Idlewild Heritage Trail by Merrell
This is a proposed heritage trail preserving the stories of the people, places, businesses, and landmarks that shaped Idlewild. The Black Footwear Forum brings it to Detroit as an example of what's to come; the real trail will be in Idlewild and will grow well beyond the 20 stops.

Hotel Casa Blanca

Completed in 1949, Hotel Casa Blanca was one of Idlewild’s premier accommodations. Designed and built by Woolsey Coombs and operated by Iva Lee Coombs, the Spanish Revival hotel included guest rooms and the Casbah Cocktail Lounge. Today, a preservation effort is working to rehabilitate the historic building for lodging, meetings and heritage education.
