Tabernacle A.M.E. Church

Religious life has been part of Idlewild from its earliest years. H. Franklin and Virginia Bray helped establish the congregation that became Tabernacle Church, whose first rustic building was completed in 1923. Rebuilt after its roof collapsed during the winter of 1928–29, Tabernacle, the first Idlewild Church, has remained a spiritual and community institution for generations.
