Idlewild Heritage Trail by Merrell
This is a proposed heritage trail preserving the stories of the people, places, businesses, and landmarks that shaped Idlewild. The Black Footwear Forum brings it to Detroit as an example of what's to come; the real trail will be in Idlewild and will grow well beyond the 20 stops.

Carrie Warner / Barbara Johnson Home

This home represents the extraordinary network of Black professionals and leaders who made Idlewild their summer community. Historical imagery places Carrie Warner here alongside W.E.B. Du Bois, attorney Violette Anderson and other prominent Idlewilders — a reminder that the resort was also a gathering place for Black intellectual, professional and civic life.
